Bartimaeus, the Blind      (Mark 10:46-52)

Verse 46

• Jesus was actually passing by; He did not come for Bartimaeus neither did he take note of him/noticed him as he was sitting by the wayside.

Verse 47

• Despite the fact that the man was blind; he was sensitive to his environment as the Bible did not record that somebody told him that Jesus was passing by, but that he heard (not see; as a matter of fact, he was blind). Yet his condition did not stop him from reaching to Jesus and getting His attention which eventually led to his miracle
• It is important to also note that many people actually saw Jesus passing that same day but none had an encounter with him. But this blind man, Bartimaeus, who could not see, had an encounter with Jesus. We therefore have no excuse tenable not to reach out to God for our desired change.

There was a woman who had suffered from a hemorrhage for 12 years. As recorded in (Matthew 9v20-21), on this particular day, she said to herself “if I only touch his garment, I shall be made whole”, but she did not just stop at her resolution but went ahead, took the step of touching the hem of Jesus’ garment and she got her healing (her desired breakthrough).

When you have a target/goal, a dream or a purpose, it is of a necessity to make decisions and take the required steps to bring about its realization. Knowing where you are going isn’t useful without taking the required steps and treading the path that will take you there.

It might not be convenient, but there are some necessary steps needed to be taken to bring about your fulfillment. The decisions you make today will tell what you become tomorrow. For you to get the tomorrow you wish for, start taking the necessary decisions and steps today.

YOUR WORDS CREATE YOUR WORLD

Words are so cheap that many do not give it a thought of how it should be used. They are so cheap that many do not pay attention to how it is being used. Many people use it carelessly while only few people use it profitably. Little do they know that with their words they create their world consciously or unconsciously.

The words we speak today, determines what our tomorrow will be. Even if you are a believer, you have to confess what you want before you can possess it. Words are so powerful, embedded with creative power. When you say them, you sow them and they will bring the harvest accordingly. Proverbs 13v2 and 12 v4. You get exactly what you utter and pronounce from your mouth.

If God the greatest creator created the Universe with his words, He spoke them all into being. Then, we can also create our world with our words. Your word determines who you are and who you will be. What you say is what you will see and eventually get (Numbers 14 v 28), God himself said “he will do unto us the very things he hear us say” Choose to speak edifying words, use your words to create your world.

Your words carry the power to either build or destroy, how you use it determines what you get. Words are seeds, when you speak them, you sow them. And once it’s sown, the harvest is unavoidable. Words kill, Words give life. Speak life and not death, speak success not failure, speak victory and not defeat.

Gen 9 v 20 – 27 (Shem, Ham & Japhet)

Ham: It was an act that destroyed his destiny. That singular act brought a curse on him which transcends to his generation.

Shem & Japheth: While Ham chose to expose his father’s nakedness, the other two sons (Shem & Japheth) on the contrary, chose to cover up their father’s nakedness. This act of theirs invoked their father’s blessings upon them and the generations after them.

Pray: Lord, help me to always do the right thing.

Matthew Chapter 25 (Parable of the Talents)

God has deposited in us all we need to succeed (potentials) 2Peter 1 v 3. He then expects us to work on ourselves, train ourselves and refine these potentials he has given to us.

Importantly, he wants us to make use of what he has deposited in us (Gen 2 v 15). He wants us to use those talents, work with them and succeed (multiply) because he has given us the capacity to grow and enlarge.

As children of God, we have no excuse not to make it in life. He has given us all that pertain to life and godliness. It is our responsibility to activate the potentials in us (2Tim 1v 6), make use of it and succeed. God did not give you that talent/potential to keep. He gave you to make use of it. Go ahead and USE IT.
